Will 'Emily in Paris' return for Season 5? Here's what we know so far
View Date:2024-12-23 16:23:07
Season 4 spoilers ahead.
Phew! That was quite the European adventure Emily Cooper had this season. From the French Alps to the piazzas of Rome, it has been a busy season for Emily. And as Lily Collins says, "No one loves a holiday like Emily Cooper."
But is Emily permanently moving to Rome? The short answer is no.
Series creator Darren Star, in a post-season interview with The Hollywood Reporter, confirmed that Emily is not leaving Paris.
"We’ll spend some time in Rome. But she did not change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome," Star said. "…They can be in more than one city, and Emily can spend time in Rome. She can spend time in Paris, too. She’s not leaving Paris."

At the same time, Star told Glamour that audiences will "definitely see more Emily in Rome if we have a season five."
"Emily [is now] there. There’s an office, and I think the story is taking us there for the moment," Star said. "So, we will spend more time in Italy, but it doesn’t mean we’re leaving Paris."
Recapping Season 4
On Emily's hot new beau, Star told THR he intended to introduce Marcello Muratori as a fresh start for the American in Paris.
“I wanted to bring in a new love interest for Emily that would feel like a fresh start after all of the drama with Gabriel,” Star told the media outlet. “Marcello comes into Emily’s life in an unexpected way and opens the door to so many possibilities for Emily: new country, new culture, new adventure.”
Not sure how long that's going to last cause a determined Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) is seen heading to Rome to win back Emily.
Besides Emily's new adventures, Season 4 had its fair share of bombshells from Camille's nonexistent pregnancy and later decision to adopt, to Mindy heading to Shanghai to serve as a judge on "Chinese Popstar." In fact, there was even a cameo from France’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron, this season.
While Emily will be returning to Paris, it is not official if "Emily in Paris" will be returning to Netflix for a fifth season. Here's what we know so far about Season 5 of "Emily in Paris," including cast and release date.
Will there be 'Emily in Paris' Season 5?
Netflix has not yet made an official announcement on if "Emily in Paris" would be returning for a new season and a rep for the streaming platform said there was no news to share when contacted by USA TODAY. Hence, details about a potential Season 5 of the series remain scarce.
However, in May 2024 during the Cannes Film Festival, a walk-on role in the show's fifth season was auctioned off as part of amfAR Gala, reported Variety, with presenters Winnie Harlow and Paris Jackson saying Season 5 was scheduled to begin shooting sometime in mid-2025. The walk-on role, courtesy of Star, was reportedly auctioned for approximately $277,000 (€250,000).
The winner of the auction “will have the opportunity to spend a day on set in Paris during filming, contingent upon season 5 pickup," the bid read.
